Right? That said, all experts agree that we need MANY different technologies for storage, as a one size fits all approach won't work for every geography. So effectively we will have about 5-10 techs worldwide, and that should cover most use cases. I think the sand battery won't happen in the US (except maybe Alaska?), but its perfect for Scandinavia. We will just use something else.

Yeah. Storage tech is so diverse and is the next frontier. We can't get rid of fossil fuels until then. Lets see what we come up with...
