Great to read your reflections. It's so important that we don't flinch from looking at these uncomfortable issues and make sure that we are well-informed. Keep up the great work.

Thanks for all your support Vatsal! I am glad you find value, especially as a fellow millennial stuck in this crazy ride :) BTW Optimistic news is hard to find, but I try hard to look for it ;)

I'm so glad you're writing. Thank you. With the holidays, I missed a few of your last posts and do want to pick up our thread on how to write to my legislators about cryptocurrency. I've told a few people about that fact since then and it's been a revelation to them. I similarly started writing a newsletter here because I felt like I needed to do that. Keep following what interests you, what you're passionate about, and what will make a difference for us all. I read recently in the NY Times that the 3 biggest things we can all do to reduce our personal impacts are fly less, drive less, and eat less meat. Would you agree or does that kind of advice annoy you?

Thanks for your kind words of encouragement. I would be happy to touch base again on the crypto issue (did you get my email?). As for the 3 things, I am sympathetic to it and follow a lot of it myself. That said, modern history has shown precious few examples where people have voluntarily chosen to consume less enough to make a difference. The economic system today provides few options for those who don't want to drive or fly. Especially in north america, where Amtrak is often more expensive than driving, and sometimes even flights. Unless we develop eco-friendly alternatives, social change alone can't fix the problem. People will always vote with their wallets. That is the sad reality of climate change - large scale change must be institutional.
